Abtei Himmerod

The Abtei Himmerod is one of the most important sights in the Eifel. Each weekend the abby is visited by many groups of tourists. The abby is still managed by local monks, who brew a excellent beer, that you can buy at the local abby-shop like other typical Eifel products.

Did you know the following fact? The german army forces, the Bundeswehr, was founded here in the year 1950. The result of that event is the so called Himmeroder Denkschrift.
